My fellow San Franciscans,
Last week, San Francisco welcomed visitors from all around the world as the host city of the 2023 APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) Economic Leaders’ Meeting where world leaders gathered at Moscone Center. This is how we strengthen our economies and address global challenges to create a more resilient and sustainable future for everyone.
Our nation celebrated the launch of Vice President Kamala Harris’s Women in Sustainable Economy Initiative, which will bring together public-private partnerships that aim to increase women’s access to jobs, trainings, leadership opportunities, and the financial sector.
I also had the opportunity to join the APEC AI Panel to talk SF’s AI boom, climate change, & sustainability. We know AI is growing here & APEC gave us a major opportunity to sit down with some of the top leaders in this industry.
We have so much to be proud of.
During APEC, City workers worked to ensure the Emergency Operations Center was fully operational all week dealing with any and all challenges to manage APEC this week – public safety, street conditions, transit and traffic updates and more. Thank you to all our city staff and to our partners at the state and federal levels who are working to take care of our city.
I also want to thank our volunteers for all of their hard work and efforts to make this international event a success.
The City is a thriving, center of innovation. I am proud that APEC gave us the opportunity to show the visiting international community of leaders what is happening here in SF. We have challenges but our city workers have been making it safer & cleaner & will continue to do so.
Have a happy Thanksgiving!
